About BrainShastra
Last updated 1 November 2026
BrainShastra reads the crown of the head — its shape, its hair whorl and the hair itself — against what classical Indian texts say, and tells you in plain words how that tradition describes the mind behind it: how it grasps, holds and remembers.
The sources
The Bṛhat Saṃhitā of Varāhamihira (6th century) on the umbrella-shaped head; the thirty-two marks of a great person in the Buddhist Dīgha Nikāya and Buddhaghosa's commentary on the rounded crown; the Charaka Saṃhitā on the body types (prakṛti), described by hair and mind together, and on dhī, dhṛti and smṛti; the Aṣṭāṅga Hṛdaya on the doshas through the day. Folk sayings — such as those about two whorls — are used and always labelled as folk tradition. Where we interpret, we say "our reading".
What it is not
BrainShastra is not a test of intelligence, ability or health. A head's shape and hair do not measure intelligence, and we never give a score, an IQ or a comparison with others. It makes no prediction and has no scientific basis. Please do not use it to make decisions about education, work or medical care.
